A Day at Miyajima Island – Japan

I have just got back from Japan, and whilst the memories are fresh in my mind, I thought I should write some posts about my favourite day trips in Japan. We spent a day at Miyajima Island, in Hiroshima.
A Day at Miyajima Island:
It was a beautiful day out, and we left nice and early so that we could have a full day out. Despite the heat (nearing 37 degrees Celsius), we had an amazing time.
The journey to Miyajima was by train and by ferry. I loved the ferry journey because it was a lovely, sunny day and we could see the Torii in the distance. Our first stop was the Torii and the Shrine. They were both so beautiful.

We had the option of walking up Mount Misen at Miyajima, however, we decided we needed to get the Ropeway. The view from the mountain top was stunning. To be honest, we didn’t climb right to the top after getting the ropeway, as it was just too hot.

I love this sign leading to the ropeway.

When we got back to the town, we continued to wander around. One of the highlights of the day was having a maple leaf (Momji) treat. It was delicious. I had a custard cream filled one. I’m dreaming of them now, and I wish I had been able to bring some back with me!

Five Pillar Pagoda
I didn’t manage to get a photo of the maple leaf, as I ate it too quickly!
The dress I decided to wear that day was one that I bought in Nara. They are super comfy and were perfect for the hot weather. The dress has a really pretty print and is floaty and cute.
Have a read of my other Japan post:
Soo beautiful!
Thank you <3
I like your dress very much, and it matches the Shrine and the Pagoda!

Thank you! It is such a comfortable dress <3
Miyajima is so beautiful, really like the Japanese version of tropical vibes 😉 I never knew Japan had an island, it’s really spectacular and super green! Thanks for sharing these pics with us 🙂

It’s so beautiful there. I’m so pleased we didn’t climb the whole way to the top, it was too hot! It was such a great day trip!
