A Day in Venice with Contiki

Spread the love

When I went on a Contiki trip earlier this year, I didn’t expect my time to be so limited. Contiki is good for getting round to places, however, it did feel like it was a bit rushed at times. I had a day in Venice with Contiki, which was not nearly enough time!

A Day in Venice with Contiki:

We woke up very early in order to get a ferry from the mainland to Murano. It was very interesting going to a glass factory and seeing how they blow the glass to make different items. I bought my sister a little sausage dog made of glass. I also bought myself a gorgeous glass necklace.

We then hopped back on the ferry and went to Piazza San Marco. We had a walking tour around the island, looking at some of the most interesting, and historical places (everything in Venice is historical though…so…).

Whilst everyone else went on a trip to Burano (really pricey lunch included), I decided tospend a bit more time walking around Venice. Luckily two of my new friends weren’t going on the trip too. We found a cute restaurant called La Zucca and had probably the best meal of the trip there! I had a really yummy vegetarian lasagne and a chocolate cafe for afters.

We continued to walk around after eating lunch. There were so many good photo opps.

We finally met up with everyone else at about 6pm and went for a gondola ride.

I had a really great, full on day. A day in Venice wasn’t really enough – I wish I had more time there!

I have written a few other Italy posts. Check them out here:

Thank you SO much for sharing this! I’m heading there next month for two days and that food looks amazing! I’ve heard bad things about the food in Venice, but you’ve given me hope!

Definitely go to La Zucca – it was so, so good. Someone told us to go there, so we spent ages trying to find it. It was getting to the point that we were going to give up, but I’m glad we persevered! I’d heard the same about the food before I went. Let me know how your trip goes!

When I go to travel around Italy I was planning on doing a Contiki tour, then go to Venice again for a few days afterwards. I have watched videos and vlogs about people doing Contiki tours and it does seem rushed, but I think it’s a good way to see Italy. Venice looks beautiful as always! x

It was definitely a good way to see the country, but there were parts of the tour that were really rushed. Capri was a fab day, but then we only had an hour or so at Pompeii (I wanted much longer than that because I love history). I’ll definitely be going back to Italy and will spend more time in some of the places that were too rushed, Venice is one of them! Contiki was great, and I’d probably do one again! Thank you 🙂
