A lazy girl’s guide to the weekend

Spread the love

I’m a lazy girl. I mean, I’m not completely sloth-like, as I do like going outside for beach walks. However, I just love a good old lazy weekend. So, for all those people who aspire to be lazy, here’s my lazy girl’s guide to the weekend.

The perfect start to a lazy weekend is to sleep in. I cherish the Saturday mornings where I can just lie in bed, but when it reaches 10 am I feel like I really should get out of bed. I then spend about half an hour talking myself into getting out of bed. The action itself can be quite tricky, particularly in winter. If it’s summer, it is just too hot to stay lying in bed, so I take myself to a couch instead.

Another thing I love to do in the morning is read. I love picking up a good chick-lit book from the library, and I spend until lunchtime racing through it.  I have always been a reader, and I am a firm believer that reading really opens the world up for you. You can go on so many adventures! There’s nothing quite like getting lost in an exceptional book and imagining yourself in that world.

By the time it is lunchtime, I really feel like I ought to get outdoors for a bit. Get some vitamin c, and expose my lily-white skin to the sun. My favourite thing to do is go to my favourite cafe, where I purchase myself a very, very well-deserved French Rose and Vanilla tea. Perfecto.

I then decide that I might as well walk off my lunch by going for a lovely stroll on the beach. No matter what the weather, I love the beach.

My own photo on my favourite beach-walk: Milford to Takapuna. The view of Rangitoto is stunning from here!

After my spurt of exercise, I retreat back to the safety of my own home and relax for the rest of the afternoon by watching Say Yes to the Dress. I have approximately 4.5 cups of tea and 2 chocolate biscuits. At about 7 pm I realise I am hungry again and make some toast. And don’t forget another cup of tea, because tea and toast go really well together!

My favourite way to relax – a bit of the HP Universe and tea.

And that’s my lazy girl’s guide to the weekend. Also known as, ‘look at how single I am’.

Plus, I found these cool exercises for lazy people!

I miss lazy weekends! I have two toddlers who dont even let me sit down now! Roll on bedtime so I can have my own tea and biscuits!

Haha, it must be nice to get to bedtime so you can relax and have your tea!

This sounds perfect – if I lived near a beach I’d definitely be up for a beach walk! I normally spend the morning cleaning so I can relax for the rest of the weekend, take some blog pictures and write up some content for the coming week – with whichever show I’m currently binge watching playing in the background of course 😉

I should probably do more cleaning on a Saturday, rather than spreading it out to Sunday! It’s so nice being able to just relax and not have anything else to do. I need to work on writing more blog content. I’ve been making my way through the 90s movies selection on Netflix, and rewatching those good old classics like Clueless! x

I love a lazy weekend now and then, it’s a great way to recharge your batteries and set you up for the working week.

It really is a great way to recharge. I have 2 weeks of relaxing to do now, as I am on break! I’m looking forward to getting out and about though. I love to relax, but I don’t know if I’d be able to cope with 2 full weeks of doing nothing 😀

Ah, this sounds so familiar 😀 We live opposite a Park / Botanical Gardens so we walk around it to get our exercise in. Also, tea is life! I’m a complete tea pot 😛

That sounds so lovely! I love walking around gardens. They always smell nice, and are so relaxing feeling! I buy so much tea, it’s ridiculous!

I wish I could lie in, I always seem to be wide awake by 6am when I try! Therefore my perfect lazy weekend includes an afternoon snooze 😂 I’m with you on the book reading and exercise.

Haha, I always have the same issue. It’s like my body clock tells me that, despite it being the weekend, I need to get up for work. I manage to snooze a little though.

After the most hectic weekend last weekend, you’ve definitely convinced me to embrace my inner lazy girl and spend the weekend doing some of my favorite things.
    Great post! xxo Bri

I’m glad I could convince you to be lazy 😀 It is nice having weekends where you don’t need to do anything.
