Be Bold, Be Bright, Be You
Something I try to remember when I dress for each day is to show who I am through my clothes. My style is part of my identity, and something I tell myself each day is ‘be bold, be bright, be you’.
I may not dress in the brightest of clothes every day, but the idea is to be yourself, have some kind of pleasure or excitement in what you wear, and feel amazing. Somedays I just feel like wearing all black (but my pop of colour may be my underwear, which is totally ok. At least you know you look great underneath your clothes *queue Shakira singing*).
Something I remind myself in the mornings is to dress my feelings.
However, I do normally plan my outfits ahead (as seen in this post), but it’s also important to take into account how you feel each day. Some days you might just feel like blending in, and that is definitely ok. We were all born to stand out, but if you want to have an off day, that’s ok with me!
Be bold, be bright, be you, is purely a mantra I tell myself. Like I said above, you don’t always have to dress boldly, or in bright colours, but you should definitely always be you.
But how can you do that?
Simple: think about all the things you love. These can be things you love about yourself, or they can be things like cats, or fairy tales. You might even think that you like the way Harajuku girls dress, and you could take elements of that into consideration when you buy clothes, or when you prepare your outfit for the day.
Think about how these things could be shown in the way you dress or style yourself. Even if you dress in a minimalist style you can do this.
Being bold, bright and you is a lot more than just clothes and the way you style yourself. It’s something that comes from within too. I hope this post has inspired you to shine bright:
