Helmut Lang NYFW F/W 2019
Tailoring, stiff jeans, slip dresses and parkas. Those are all items you’d see at Helmut Lang NYFW F/W 2019.
Helmut Lang has always been a brand I’ve liked, purely because of the designs, the wearability of the items and the cut, material and look. The materials seem to be a mix of satin/silk, thick knit type material, the odd uber fluffy material, and leather. The female models all wore patent looking heels with pointy toes.
My favourite looks: Helmut Lang NYFW F/W 2019
One look I absolutely adored was this red suit.
I love the colour red because it is a strong and powerful colour. It is full of possibilities. I have previously been looking for a pale pink suit, but I may change this to a bright red suit. Yes, I may look like Ronald McDonald, but who cares!
This is a coat I really love.
I think a red coat would be the perfect addition to my wardrobe. This one looks really classic and is the perfect, tailored double-breasted coat. I like how there is a belt to nip in the waist. I’m really into long length coats at the moment – I like how they hit just below the knee. It means that they are perfect for when you wear midi-dresses.
These co-ords (I’m not sure what to call them, because they are kind of suits, but not quite), are really cool.
I love the matching jacket – it’s possibly made out of denim? It’s really hard to tell through photos.
These three coats are classics.
Two of them are fluffy and I can imagine myself curling up in these coats. They just look so cosy! I can see the grey one as being like a really expensive bathrobe. The black coat is a classic – the colour, cut and material definitely makes it into an investment piece. My favourite has to be the fluffy white one!
These two dresses are different in terms of the material, however, they both have a boxy silhouette.
I really like the silvery/gold one, it almost looks like liquid. It’s beautiful and is the perfect party dress! The black leather-like one is really edgy, and I love how it fits the model’s body.
Like the Proenza Schouler, I noticed that layering was quite popular. Perhaps not as much as the Schouler show, but it’s still there.
The NYFW has shown some really exciting new looks, and I’m looking forward to looking at the other designers. I know I promised Carolina Herrera and Zadig and Voltaire, but I saw the Helmut Lang NYFW show and fell in love.
