How to Avoid a Total Skin Freak Out When You Travel

Spread the love

Whether you’re exploring the world by plane, train, or automobile, traveling has a lot of potential to completely wreak havoc on your skin. There are so many things that contribute to unwanted differences in your skin while traveling. Changes in environment, weather, sleeping patterns, and eating habits are all major factors at play—and all are mostly unavoidable. You’re basically taking your skin out of its comfort zone and exposing it to a slew of new things (and germs!), so it should come as no surprise that your skin may freak out a little bit while you adventure around.

How to avoid a total skin freak out when you travel:

Blemishes, dryness, and dull, tired skin are just a few things you might experience while traveling, but don’t panic! There are ways to prepare your skin so that these issues don’t arise. If you have a trip coming up, there are some key things you can do to help avoid breakouts and other unpleasant skin issues while you’re on the go. Read on to see exactly what to do!

Quench Your Skin’s Thirst

Any skincare professional will tell you that staying hydrated is one of the best ways to combat skin problems while traveling. This, of course, starts from the inside out, meaning you’ll want to increase your normal daily intake of water. Topically, you’ll want to incorporate a product into your routine that has extra moisturizing power, and for that, you can’t go wrong with a facial oil.

Virgin Marula Oil is a solid choice when selecting an oil. It’s rich in nutrients, natural acids, and antioxidants, which are all great components in an ultra-moisturizing oil. Known as somewhat of a “miracle oil,”  Marula oil is also antimicrobial and non-comedogenic, so it won’t clog your pores while you’re out exploring. Marula oil really does it all, making it a great option for even everyday skincare!

Eye Cream is Essential

Between jet lag, long flights, and exploring your new surroundings, traveling can be absolutely exhausting. Also, let’s face it, sleep may not always be one of your main priorities while you’re on the trip of a lifetime. Under eye bags and dark circles are two of the biggest giveaways that you—and your skin!—are tired, but they’re also both totally preventable. To combat these issues while on the road, you’ll want to add a soothing eye cream to your daily skincare routine. Opt for one with rejuvenating ingredients that will increase hydration, add firmness, and promote collagen growth so that you’ll look rested and youthful in every picture you take during your trip.

Exfoliate & Don’t Forget Sunscreen!

As you’re exposing your skin to new environments, trying new foods that your body may not be used to, and collecting dirt and grime on your skin’s surface along the way, breakouts are kind of a given when traveling. While all of this can be a bit overwhelming for your skin, one way to help keep breakouts at bay is to exfoliate.

Exfoliating is an important part of any skincare routine as it removes dirt, debris, and dead skin cells from the surface, leaving skin with a smooth, natural glow. It can be easy to skimp on your skincare regimen while you’re away, but taking the time to exfoliate will help clear out your pores and prevent future blemishes, making this a necessary step to keep your skin in line while abroad.

Regardless of the season, don’t forget to incorporate sunscreen into your skincare routine! Not only will it help shield your skin from harmful UV rays (reducing your risk for skin cancer), but it will also help prevent dark spots from sun damage. If you’re going on a tropical vacation, make sure you use a reef-friendly sunscreen, so you can protect your skin while also preserving the ecosystems you love.

Just because you’re traveling doesn’t mean that your skin is doomed. If you stay on top of your skincare regimen and remember to moisturize, exfoliate, apply sunscreen and incorporate an eye cream into your daily routine, you’ll avoid breakouts and keep your skin looking its best, wherever you may be going!

I’m a skincare addict and I super love taking care of my skin because it’s the largest organ in our body. I don’t travel a lot but these are great skincare tips, love! I’d definitely try to get myself a decent eye cream these days just in case! Thank you for sharing xx
