My Top 10 Favourite Movies Of All Time
I love watching movies and I definitely have a list of my top 10 favourite movies. Those sorts of movies you can watch over and over again. Don’t you just love those movies? No matter how many times you watch them, they never get old!
My Top 10 Favourite Movies:
1) Top of my list is Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.
I watch this movie constantly! I love the humour, the lengths they went to take the day off school, and just how 80s it is. And I love Sloane’s clothes – her fringed jacket is so cool! And I also really understand what Ferris means when he says ‘if you don’t stop to look around once in a while, you could miss it’. It’s a reminder to me to have fun!
As if any other movie would be in this spot! Cher is hilarious, I love her fashion sense, and it is just a really fab movie. Whenever I need a mood lift, I watch this one. It is guaranteed to make me laugh!
3) Ten Things I Hate About You.
I remember the first time I watched this was when I was about 14. Just after the movie came out. I fell in love, instantly, with Heath Ledger. I still wish I could have a guy serenade me. Unfortunately, my current flame is tone deaf. A few years ago a remake came out – as a tv series. It was definitely not the same. I love how this is based on Taming of the Shrew – one of my all-time favourite Shakespeare plays (I was a total Shakespeare nerd back in the day).
4) The Witches.
Now, this is old school. I grew up watching this movie and vividly remember watching this from the age of 6. I used to be convinced that there were Witches shopping at the local supermarket, only because they wore gloves and wore square-toed shoes. My mum used to have to shush me when we walked past old ladies. The Witches is a really amazing movie.
5) Mean Girls.
How could I have a list without including the incredibly quotable Mean Girls. This is one of the best movies to come out of the 2000s. I remember dressing like them. But I wasn’t a plastic…I promise.
6) The Breakfast Club.
This is another movie I watch constantly. I love the 80s. Fluro and legwarmers may have been popular, but not everyone wore them. I LOVE Claire’s style. Every year when I finish school for the year, I do the fist pump when I drive out the gates. It’s my own, personal nod to this amazing movie.
7) Dirty Dancing.
This is another movie that I’ve been an avid watcher of for many years. This is the movie that got me really into dance. I love the character development of Baby. And man, can Patrick Swayze move!
I love this scene of Baby and Johnny dancing. I actually went to the stage show in London back in 2016 – probably one of my favourite shows I’ve been to!
8) Harry Potter
I can’t really say which one is my favourite because they were all pretty good. I am a huge fan of the books as well. I’ll never forget when Dumbledore died, my friend yelled out Gandalf.
I found this hilarious (well I think it’s hilarious) gif of Draco Malfoy:
9) LOTR Series.
Once again, I find it really difficult to say which one is my favourite. I used to watch one every weekend. I remember going to watch ROTK in Dunedin when it came out. My parents and sister went to see School of Rock and said it was the dullest movie ever. I’m so glad I saw ROTK and not School of Rock. To be totally honest, I only just figured out that this guy was named Figwit (by LOTR fans). I’m so excited that he came back for the Hobbit!
10) White Chicks.
This is the most ridiculous movie. However, it is so funny. I pretty much spend the whole movie laughing. My sister lives away from Auckland now, so sometimes we schedule to watch it at the same time and just text each other when we get to the funny bits. Usually, the texts involve lots of lolololollolololols.
I wish I had space to put Legally Blonde on this list! That’s another one of my favourites. I may have to write another list, but for now…this is it.
