Outfit on Saturday: Baby Shower and Dating Days.
I had a really enjoyable weekend. I love busy weekends where it feels like my days are well spent! My outfit on Saturday consisted of a 70s style pair of jeans, a tie-up v-neck shirt and wedges.

Fashion is one of those things that I just get. Fashion is something that gives me a lot of pleasure, and it also makes sense to me. There are times when I feel like everything is gurgling down the drain. Fashion is a constant and it always makes me feel better. That doesn’t mean I constantly shop and spend, I just like reading articles, blog posts, gaining inspiration from Pinterest. The list is endless. There is so much more to fashion than just buying the newest fad!
There is a clear divide between style and fashion. Fashion is, I guess, what is popular at the moment. That ongoing cycle of out with the old, in with the new. Style is something deeper, more meaningful. I guess, to identify your ‘personal style’, you have to understand fashion, and how to piece things together. Or at least have a vague idea of what you like or dislike wearing.
“is about dressing according to what’s fashionable. Style is more about being yourself.” —Oscar de la Renta
For a long time, my personal style was what was popular.
And now, even though there are things I adore from the recent looks, I still try to keep things classic. Classic chic. I don’t know. I like to think my look changes on a daily basis. Sometimes I have a vintage kick and get all of my 1940s dresses out and wear them. Other times it’s 60s (which is one of my go tos), other times it’s just pairing things together that I think look rockin.
“What you wear is how you present yourself to the world, especially today, when human contacts are so quick. Fashion is instant language.” —Miuccia Prada
Personal style is something that makes you who you are and is a part of your identity. I believe that personal style does evolve as you grow as a person. At Uni, I was obsessed with converse and skinny jeans (as that was cool back then). Since I started working I have become more confident in dressing in a way I enjoy.
I think personal style is more about finding things you love and using them to create a look you love. It’s about finding items that you can mix together to create new looks and it is certainly about showing your individuality.
“Style is a way to say who you are without having to speak.” — Rachel Zoe
People do take notice of you the first time you appear in the room, and for me, it is important to be memorable. First impressions do matter because people often do rely on their first impression of someone to shape their thoughts.
“You don’t get a second chance to make a first impression,” —James Uleman
Judgements are unfortunately made straight away, and it is hard to change them once someone has made them! That is why I always try to make an effort with my presentation – I like to look nice. Although I do love days when I can just wear comfortable clothes!
This weekend? What made it busy?
This weekend I had my sister’s baby shower. About 20 people came along and I had to run and organise the games. It was a lot of fun, and I was able to have a quality catch up with my cousin.
In the morning I had decorated the house and made sure there were lots of baby related things around the house. As I really love organising things the baby shower was the perfect event for me!
In the evening we went, as a family, to Pepitos Tapas bar in Milford, Auckland.
On Sunday, I went on a date to minigolf. It was a lot of fun, and a super relaxed way to get to know someone. The man I’m dating at the moment is really nice, and I think he’s the nicest man I’ve been out with for a while. We have a lot to talk about, and a similar sense of humour which is really lovely!
My outfit on Saturday consisted of:
Zara jeans, H&M t-shirt and blue and green wedges. A comfortable, yet stylish outfit!
