The Effect of Beauty on Success and Self-Confidence

The Effect of Beauty on Success and Self-Confidence

Humans are very visual creatures. Ever since the dawn of time, we’ve always had this craving to see beautiful things around us, to be the beautiful thing ourselves. From the ancient Egyptians who crushed beetles to get pigment they could apply to their eyes, to the modern day makeup and procedures – we’ve thought of a million ways to cultivate our appearance, to enhance features, to play with colours. We’ve always been so creative in the ways that we adorned ourselves, and that creativity and freedom of spirit, that uniqueness is the best thing about the whole process.

Simply put, it allows us to express ourselves and be our own idea of beautiful. That is why this article isn’t dedicated to conforming to the very strict standards of beauty in the media. It’s not about making yourself into a carbon copy of someone else, it’s about you. About how to bring out the best in you, how to feel good in your own skin, and how to make your confidence soar.

Dress for success

Dressing well doesn’t really mean you have to go outside in something revealing, and it doesn’t mean you need to change your style. While glamming it up in high heels and a form-fitting dress is certainly effective, it’s not the only way to look sexy. From leather jackets and slim jeans to frilly dresses and ballet flats – what’s your signature? Fashion is not an exclusive thing only the elite few can enjoy, no matter what some companies tell you. Find cute looks that call out your name, put together outfits, try things that you always wanted to try but didn’t dare. Get out of your comfort zone and enjoy fashion in your own way. Knowing you look good and wearing something you genuinely like is a magnificent boost to self-confidence.

Don’t underestimate lingerie

It’s not really just about sex. Imagine yourself talking to someone hot. You’ve just met and they look like Tom Hiddleston, they’re great, and you want to come off as sexy to them. In your mind, what are you wearing underneath that shirt? Shabby old granny panties or something with silk and lace? It’s about how lingerie makes you feel. Literally, not a soul needs to end up seeing it that day, but you’ll know you’re wearing it. It’s your sexy little secret – you know you look smokin’ hot underneath your clothes.

Don’t eat to be skinny

the effect of beauty on success and self-confidence

Skinny is not the epitome of sexy, and eating just to be skinny is the road to a) being unhealthy and b) failure. For a good tip, take a look at Australian ladies. They spend most of the year on the beach, in a bathing suit, and their approach to looking good is outdoor exercise. Beach volleyball, hiking, cycling, swimming – basically all the things they enjoy doing anyway. Pair this with a healthy diet of home cooked meals with plenty of lean meats and veggies, cut down on sugar, and you’ll be doing well. Your efforts not paying off?

Girl, we live in a modern world, there are solutions and they don’t even have to be surgical. Aussie women who we know to be the epitome of sexy have their own little tricks. For example, professional Coolsculpting in Perth is getting really popular and it can help you lose those last few pounds that don’t respond to exercise or diet. It’s a non-invasive procedure as well, and it’s definitely something to keep in mind if you want a shapelier body. The point is, do what you do for health, don’t stress, and feel free to treat yourself to any modern procedures.

Makeup as art

Makeup kind of loses its point if you’re not enjoying it. You can go far with only BB cream, lip gloss, and a touch of mascara, but if you genuinely enjoy makeup and just lack the skill to pull it off, practice. Don’t practice in the morning when you’re in a rush. Practice when you come back home in the evening. Put on some good music, grab a snack, relax. Gather around fun colours and play with them. Make mistakes, then fix them. Start over. Experiment.

Self-care and relaxation

From skincare rituals to massages at the parlour, each of us needs a way to engage in self-care and remember to appreciate our own beauty. Hobbies are also important for this purpose. What makes you happy? Perhaps you would benefit from meditation, perhaps you’re crafty and making beaded jewellery makes you feel creative. Draw, dance, sing, read wash your face and put on a sheet mask, light some incense – just do things for yourself, things that make you happy.

You know how everyone says that clichéd old thing about how real beauty is on the inside? Well, as clichéd sayings go, it’s actually pretty true. Physical appearance, on its own, is boring. Your face and body need your good personality to really make them shine, they need your confidence and your spirit to be truly unique.

I think as long as we love ourselves, are kind to ourselves and put self-care first then we’ll always be beautiful 🙂
