What is style inspo going to be about?

Spread the love

For my ‘new year, new me’ resolution (which is something I decide to do every year and pretty much fail at), I’ve decided to do a post series called style inspo. The name of this series might change when I think of something catchy!

Female Style Inspo

As a fashionista (or so I like to think), I have a lot of style inspiration in my life. From a young age, I looked up to people like Katharine Hepburn and Audrey Hepburn. Katharine was someone I looked up to because we share the same name and the same spelling of Katharine. However, I love how she did the middle finger to expectations of how women should dress.

Audrey Hepburn has been a style inspiration of mine for a long, long time. She had a very classic look and a very simple style. Her style is not incredibly difficult to replicate.

As a blogger, I usually say I’m a fashion blogger. However, there is a slight difference between fashion and style. Fashion is more a follower of trends, whilst style is something that stays for a long time. While there are trends I really love, a lot of my clothes are old. Some of them date back to the 1940s.

Male Style Inspo

I’m also going to look at male influences on my style choices. For example, Harry Styles (ILY Harry) and Freddie Mercury.

Yes, I said Freddie Mercury. Don’t expect me to be wearing skin-tight jumpsuits though. I don’t have any glittery bodysuits in my wardrobe at the moment. There are aspects of his style that I particularly like! Now I am really regretting throwing out my military style coat – I feel like it would have come in handy. And I also took a really cute leather blazer to the op shop recently. I wonder if it is still there. However, I am able to sew, and I have another blazer that I can add on some fun embellishments. I love Freddie because he defied gender norms – he could be both ‘masculine’ and ‘feminine’ with his style choices.

So, expect the unexpected! I am going to be posting weekly on my style influence. You never know who I might choose. I will also add in how you can recreate these looks on a budget.

I actually feel like this will be a really great challenge – it will make me reevaluate my clothing and it will also make me feel like my clothes are exciting again.

I love both Katharine and Audrey Hepburn’s styles, just so classic and chic. Both had such great attitudes to life that accompanied their wardrobe too which made it all the more fitting. Harry Styles’ Gucci suit collection is something of serious envy too, good luck with replicating these looks and reinventing them with your own twists!

That is exactly why I love their style so much! They really reflected who they were through their style. I wish I had Harry Styles’ Gucci suit collection. I really hope I can do his style justice!

I love the vibe of this post! Ooh, I like that a lot of these fashion picks are classic but still look modern. I like that Freddie Mercury was just out there – he owned up to his picks! Thanks for sharing!

Thank you!! That’s what I love about Freddie Mercury – he wasn’t afraid to be himself and own his fashion choices!!

I love Audrey Hepburn! Her style is timeless. Love the quote from Oscar De La Renta – “Style is more about being yourself!” I couldn’t agree more.

I love her timeless, classic style. That’s one of my favourite quotes! ❤️
